Operations Director - Eaton - Arendal


Job Description
This is a senior level position to lead the Operations Department for one of our electrical businesses, Hernis based in Arendal (South Norway). Hernis is a part of Eaton’s electrical engineering division focusing on engineering and production of CCTV systems for hazardous areas in the Oil & Gas and maritime industries. We are very well established in this marketplace and your role will play a crucial part in running the business globally, with cross functional responsibilities across Eaton’s Electrical Division. This role would be ideal for a strong leader, with capability to help the business develop and become even more successful.



Your role will include:
- Managing Hernis’ global operations teams in respect of manufacturing and production control and achieving operational targets
- Ensuring quality, cost and delivery targets as well as meeting customer satisfaction standards
- Working closely with different functions within Hernis and Eaton in general
- Co-coordinating activities of the team to optimize cost performance
- Developing the team and improving operational procedures
- Managing all aspects of the internal and external supply chain
- Working on designs for manufacturing and liaising closely with New Product Development team on implementation of new and revised designs
- Managing Engineering to Order processes within the operations department
- Driving the implementation of 5S, Lean Manufacturing, VAVE and Six Sigma methodology in order to achieve world class standards and improving processes
- Creating an environment of productive team working and continuous learning and development
- Adhering to the highest Environmental and Health and Safety standards thus complying with legislative requirements and Eaton’s internal standards

Basic Qualifications (Including Educational Requirements)
What do we expect from you?
- A degree in engineering or business studies or equivalent, preferably a masters degree
- Very strong experience in operations management and working with cross-functional teams
- Proven track record in managing budgets and implementing cost efficiency programmes
- Strong leadership skills, with experience in managing larger teams and particularly in people development
- Deep understanding and experience of complex manufacturing systems (MRP, JIT, ERP) and Six Sigma and Lean Methodologies
- Experience in working in engineering to order and/or serial manufacturing
- Experience in conducting change management, with strategic outlook
- Capability of working with a range of external clients and complex demands as well as establishing strong internal links
- Preferably with a background in working for a large, US based matrix organisation
- Strong analytical and organisational skills
- Fluent English and preferably Norwegian languages
