Global Sourcing Category Manager - Telenor - Oslo
Job description
Group Sourcing has over time executed large network RFQ projects together with Technology/ Network in GID and all Telenor Business Units. In the resent year we have built a Global sourcing organization, leveraging on Scale and Shared best practice. By introducing standard requirements and a systematic approach towards the vendor market Telenor has been able to standardize solutions, bring down the cost significantly, and at the same time improved Telenor’s position in the local markets.
Because of the continued focus on group synergies, and sourcing being a strong strategic component of this development we are seeking a replacement of our Global Sourcing Group Manager. We are looking for an experienced, senior Category Manager within the field of Network elements, particularly within Transport elements.The Category Manager shall proactively drive the strategy and the execution of establishing and maintaining a given set of global categories within Network element domain, e.g. MW, IP & Optical equipment, across Telenor Group. The Category manager shall develop a global community, responsible for executing on the category strategy and BU needs within the category.
The Category manager shall ensure that all Telenor Business units are aligned on key targets for the identified category, and further ensure cooperation with relevant stakeholders in Technology and other Group units.
You are:
Experienced within main network element equipment domains
Experienced within field Transmission: how to build and operate backhaul & transmission Networks; knowledge of transportation Network different layers & design
You have the ability to collaborate cross organizational and functional boundaries
You have great people skills to secure needed resources internally or externally for any given Project
You have forward-looking abilities, insight and understanding of sourcing trends, their maturity, business value and potential, applicability and right timing
Excellent in oral and written communication in English and comfortable in communicating at CxO and GEM level and adapting “language” and level of detail to the audience. Effective in formulating precise and business-oriented decisions extracting the essence of a topic or a dilemma and engage, influence and when necessary persuade decision makers through a combination of hypothesis- and fact-based argumentation
Cross-functional and able to facilitate discussion and decision processes at senior management level combining sourcing, market, technology and financial aspects
Prepared to work under pressure when circumstances require it and enjoying working both alone and in teams
Prepared to travel across Telenor’s footprint on short notice when circumstances require it

Overall responsible for all sourcing strategies & activities within the given Category or projects in scope
Develop sourcing strategies, lead RFQ processes and final negotiations
Supervise on spend analysis and TCO calculations
Vendor management
Desired Skills and Experience
Qualifications
5-7 years experience from large sourcing and/or transformation projects
Proven ability to lead sourcing projects
Relevant business experience within the network element area
Knowledge of optical Equipment, IP Equipment & Microwave Equipment is needed
Education level
College/University (diploma/Bachelor's degree)
College/University (Master's degree)
Personal qualities
Strong people skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels, cross boarders and cultures
Analytically strong, systematic and able to quickly synthesize and value-add a broad set of own, internal and external source knowledge into viable strategic options and recommendations
Curious and with a strong passion for understanding business consequences and opportunities in industry and technology trends, changes and Development
